Banská Bystrica

Central Slovakia's largest city is an architectural wonder. Set amid green hills, BB (as Slovaks often refer to it) is a consummately Central European city, with a beautiful town center featuring a market square, little streets and alleyways you can get lost in, and plenty of Communist-era tower blocks (called pánelaky) to balance out the historical city center.
