Colorful old buildings, trees and blue sky.

Rimavská Sobota

Tucked into a pocket of south-central Slovakia that does not see so many international visitors, Rimavská Sobota came as a pleasant surprise. I came for Citadela, the independent cultural venue located on the second floor of the gray building pictured above. But what I discovered was a rather vibrant town with a harmonious town center located amid rolling hills. The town is home to a significant Hungarian-speaking minority, so you will street signs in Hungarian and other signs of the town's multilingual, multicultural heritage.
